A 48-year-old woman, identified as Pauline Mugure was yesterday hospitalized after swallowing four sachets of heroine.
The suspect did so to avoid arrest by the detectives who had received information that she has been peddling drugs in Voi Town. The detectives who witnessed this, reacted fast by rushing her to Moi County Referral hospital for an urgent assessment.
It is confirmed that several other heroine sachets were recovered from her house in Maweni estate. A case has been opened against Pauline and will be facing charges once she gets discharged from the hospital.
Six days ago, three suspects from Nakuru County were arrested over allegations of growing cannabis sativa on a 1/4 acre plot. The prohibited plant is said to have a street value of approximately Sh15 million.
The DCI has observed a rise in the smuggling and peddling of drugs in the country, hence encouraging every member of the society to be on the lookout and report the culprits before the problem spills over to young children and teenagers.
