A National Police Service officer deliberately fired his rifle after a brawl with his fellow officers of at Wajir police canteen yesterday night.
It’s alleged that the officer got annoyed in the bar during a casual chit chat with colleagues. He went to his house took his rifle and started shooting indiscriminately. Witnesses described the incident as shocking.
Luckily, no injuries were reported, and the officer, who is said to have come from Khorofharar on escort duty was disarmed, arrested, and placed in police cells.
This is not the first time police officers, who have been mandated primarily to protect lives but have instead engaged in careless activities that threaten life.
Just the other day, there was a video trending online of an officer who seemed to be high on drugs threatening and stabbing a woman in full view of his fellow police officers. The armed officers delayed in immobilizing their colleague as if they gave him priority rather than protection of the female civilian.
