KDF Special Ops Team (SOT) today morning killed 6 AlShabaab terrorists at Jirole in Ijara Sub-County in Lower Garissa Area of NEP Kenya. Several terrorists were also captured.
Today at 1:00am, KDF team from Kotile while on night patrol routine along Kotile -Korissa -Hara -Masalani road, came into contact with AS fighters at Jirole area which is between Kotile and Korissa within Kotile division of Ijara Sub-County.
The contact led to a fight that lasted about 30 minutes. The special trained KDF team had an advantage over AlShabaab due to sophisticated military equipment such as Night Visual Devices at their disposal and the night battle training.
At the silence of the guns, 6 AlShabaab had been killed and several rifles and ammunition recovered. KDF also captured a member of the terror group alive.
This group is suspected to be the one which has been causing havoc in Lamu, Garissa and Wajir counties.
The KDF team are still pursuing the militants toward Welkon – Tagsiley stretch.
