Sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations are investigating a robbery attempt by unknown individuals in the Eastleigh area, Nairobi.

According to the CCTV footage shared on Twitter by Ahmed Asmali, one of the robbers is seen escaping using a motorbike while shooting during the incident.

One person who was shot is seen in the footage lying down writhing in pain as members of the public try to help him.

DCI has asked members of the public to furnish them with more information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects.

In June, two suspects armed with a shotgun and a knife were caught on CCTV camera stealing from an individual in the Kilimani area.

The investigation led to the arrest of the four suspects who were later arraigned and charged with robbery with Violence, with Ibrahim Abdi Hussein who was found in possession of the laptop and mobile phones robbed from the victim getting an alternative count of handling stolen property.

The cases of robbery incidences in streets of the capital are rising, robbers executing their duties any time of the day.

Since coronavirus struck the nation, many people have lost their jobs.

A recent Tifa survey indicated that 31 per cent of Kenyans lost their jobs in the last one month.

Some have been caught engaging in illegal activities such as impersonating some individuals with an idea of fleecing money from innocent Kenyans.
