The autopsy results have revealed that the mother of Felix Orinda, well known as DJ Evolve died of swelling and rupture of the heart, according to the family.
Mary Hongo died on Wednesday evening after she developed breathing difficulties and collapsed at their home in Lucky Summer, area, Nairobi.
Evolve’s father John Orinda on Saturday said that the family has started burial arrangements.
The examination was conducted by the government’s chief pathologist Johansen Oduor, saying that Hongo died of a heart condition called abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA).
An abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a bulge or swelling in the aorta, the main blood vessel that runs from the heart down through the chest and tummy. It can be dangerous if it is not spotted early on, and can get bigger over time and could burst (rupture), causing life-threatening bleeding.
Her death comes as a blow to her family as DJ Evolve continues to recover. At one point, Hongo had said that she was taking care of her son while in hospital.
Earlier on, Orinda told Word Is that the family is in shock.
“I was at work when I was informed, she had been rushed to the hospital. It was abrupt but we leave everything to God.”
“She was not sick but nowadays, people walk with sick bodies unknowingly.”
She fainted and was taken to the hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.
The family has asked for humble time to mourn her death and give her a befitting send-off.
