Vilde Boe Risa, a Norwegian international, has joined Manchester United on a two-year deal with a one-year extension option.
Since her debut in 2016, the 26-year-old midfielder has earned 37 caps for Norway, helping them reach the 2019 World Cup quarter-finals.The 26-year-old is one of Europe’s best-rated midfielders and will be the club’s first summer signing, which comes as they continue their search for a new manager. Casey Stoney, the previous manager, resigned in May and left at the end of last season.
Boe Risa said, “I’m happy to be here, at such a big club that I’ve grown up supporting.”
“Manchester United is a huge club in Norway, so coming here and playing for them now is a dream come true.”
Boe Risa joins United on a free transfer after her contract with Swedish side Sandviken expired. She has spent the majority of her career in Norway and Sweden.
After Casey Stoney left at the end of last season, United is still without a manager for the upcoming 2021-22 Women’s Super League season.
