The battle between deputy president William Ruto and his political opponent in Murang’ a County may take a new twist as word on the street has it that the DP might sponsor former citizen reporter Jackie Maribe to contest for women representative seat against Sabina Chege.
Sabina Chege who is a supporter of the handshake fronted by president Uhuru Kenyatta and former prime minister Raila Odinga hasn’t been in good terms with the DP as she accuses him of disrespecting president Uhuru as well as dividing the Mount Kenya region.
Recently during a live TV show at royal media service, Sabina and Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika almost exchanged blows over several accusations.
Kihika had termed Sabina as the goon for hire against the DP where she further said Sabina has been pushing for the impeachment of Ruto as deputy president.
Sabina couldn’t take the sentiments lightly and the producer of the show was forced to cut it for them to resolve the difference.
Several sources state that tanga tanga team has hatched a plot to field Jackie Maribe for the seat t take on Sabina. The two are media personalities.
If Maribe will contest for the post, she will enjoy the support of his further who has twice tried to contest for a parliamentary seat in Kiharu but lost.
Analysts argue that handling of the button to his daughter will be the best thing as she will also enjoy the sympathy votes from her past misfortunes after she was locked up after several accusations.
The race to oust Sabina will be highly contested as other media personality Waithira Muithirani will also be in the race.
In 2017, she contested and became number two and sources have it that she will also contest again.
Currently, she works at Royal media service.
