A man was intercepted at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport trying to sneak millions of dollars into the country.
The suspect, identified as Paul Kemboi, was reportedly nabbed by customs officials with Ksh 238 Million in dollars.
He had a hard time explaining what he does for a living and the source of the millions that he was nabbed with.
When he was interrogated, he informed customs officials that he is a maize trader based in Burundi and later changed tune, claiming that he had won a lottery.
The customs officials confiscated the money and handed him over to the Anti-Terror police unit.
According to reports, Kemboi is vying for Chesumei parliamentary seat on the UDA ticket.
He is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto.
He was allegedly sneaking in the money to fund UDA’s political activities.
