Estonian President Kaljulaid arrives in Kenya for 3-day official visit

The President of the Republic of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid has arrived in the country for a three-day official visit.

She was received at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by the Foreign Affairs CS Amb. Raychelle Omamo, and her Defense counterpart Dr. Monica Juma.

President Kaljulaid is expected to hold high-level bilateral consultations with President Uhuru Kenyatta in the course of the day at State House, Nairobi.

Kaljulaid has also been scheduled for meetings with the CEO of Safaricom and Bolt, and the European Union delegation this morning.

President Kaljulaid is Estonia’s youngest and first female president. She was elected and inaugurated into office in 2016.

State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena had said on Wednesday in a communication that the visiting president will be received in the afternoon.

The meeting between the two Heads of State and their respective delegations will discuss several subjects of mutual interest to Kenya and the Baltic country.

This is the historic visit, making it the first official visit by an Estonian Head of State to an African country.
