A 52-year old herbalist, identified as Ann Mosop, was yesterday charged with murder in Uasin Gishu Law Courts following the death of one of her client who ingested her concoction.

Reports claim that the deceased, Maketh Kuany Chol, passed away on October 23, 2021, at his home in Kapsoya Estate. He is said to have been of good health before partaking this portion; a statement corroborated by his cousin Paul Deng Garang.

“The health of my cousin before consuming the said herbs was good and he did not have any health complications which I can link to his death. The cause of his death was the herbal medicine he was given by the accused,” Garang told the court.

Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Ayub Ali correspondingly revealed that the victim’s wife also consumed the concoction administered by Mosop, who hails from Elgeyo Marakwet, on the same day and was hospitalized for a week.

After pleading not guilty to the charges, Mosop was released on a Ksh.40, 000 bond while the case was set for hearing on November 24, 2022.
