President William Ruto has today directed Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof Kithure Kindiki to restore stability in Sondu, Kisumu County, where two communities battled, killing over eight persons.
During a working visit in the area on Friday, Ruto delivered a severe warning to those who were participating in the skirmishes and bleeding innocent blood, saying their days were numbered.
Ruto stated that anybody participating in the clashes would be dealt with in the same manner as bandits in the North Rift Valley and Al Shabaab militants.
He also stated that the time for tribal clashes was passed, and that the government belonged to all Kenyans, regardless of political disagreements.
“Kuna watu wanaturudisha nyuma kati ya jamii na kati ya majirani.” “Vile tumewakalia wale wa North Rift na Al Shabaab hawa watu wa Sondu hapa watakiona cha mtema kuni,” Ruto remarked.
Ruto’s remarks came a day after Azimio One Kenya Alliance politicians accused ‘important personalities’ in the county and national administration of inciting the violence.
