Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has informally stated his position on the country’s issue over same-sex marriage.
The second in charge, through his wife, Pastor Dorcas Gachagua, stated that he does not favor same-sex marriage or gays and lesbians because they are sinful.
Pastor Dorcas stated that Africa has a culture that is not prepared for such connections.
“I am a pastor and a mother, and I have never seen in the history of the world a place where religion, that is, Christianity, Islam, and traditional religion, culture, and law, all come together and say that this is wrong.”
“It is illegal for a man to marry another man in this country.” It is illegal for a woman to marry another woman. “It’s against the law,” Pastor Dorcas stated.
“Africa is not ready for that; we have our culture, we have our religion, and I believe it is time for us to speak up.”
“When you hear us speak about this, it is because we want to have a thriving Africa,” she said.
