Corporal Linus Muia Mutunga, a DCI officer who committed suicide at the DCI headquarters on Wednesday morning, has been named.
Mutunga, 59, was scheduled to retire at the end of the year.
According to sources, he had already been granted his retirement papers.
At the time of the terrible incident, the deceased was a driver assigned to the DCI operations department.
On that fateful day, he arrived at work as usual and remained in his car in the parking lot.
He is alleged to have shot himself in the head with his revolver.
He perished instantly in the event on Wednesday, October 11.
After hearing the sound of a gunshot, his coworkers hurried to the parking lot and discovered him dead.
The bullet had pierced his skull.
The scene was visited by DCI chief Mohamed Amin and leading government pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor.
His body was taken to the mortuary while an autopsy was performed.
The reason for the suicide is yet unknown.
