Wavinya Ndeti, Governor of Machakos County, has condemned President William Ruto for authorizing the demolition of dwellings built at East Africa Portland Cement Land in Athi River.
Ndeti, who was visibly moved as she spoke to journalists on Saturday evening, claimed she had spoken with Ruto, who had pledged to halt the demolitions.
“Kama ni kwako mweshimiwa Ruto hiyo ifanyike.” That is not acceptable. We cannot allow you to demolish churches,” Wavinya sobbed.
“I want to inform His Excellency that you mentioned bottoms up and caring about individuals who are down here. What’s going on is that the same folks are doing unawaumiza. “What are you thinking?”
The demolitions were ostensibly carried out to evict unauthorized inhabitants from East Africa Portland Cement’s land.
