Jeremiah Lomorukai, the governor of Turkana County, has been removed from Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
ODM announced in a letter to the Governor that it had dismissed him after a petitioner linked him to President William Ruto.
“The Party receives this letter calling for the expulsion of the Governor of Turkana Jeremiah Napotikan Lomorukai from the party.”
“Necessary action shall be taken following the Constitution of the party and the relevant laws that govern political parties,” the party stated in a statement.
According to the petitioner, Gad Aguko, Lomorukai breached the party constitution and the Political Parties Act by partnering with the government coalition No. 11 of 2012.
Lomorukai’s ejection occurred just days after Raila was denied the opportunity to address the public at the Turkana Cultural Festival last week.
Raila spoke to the media at the Lodwar airfield, condemning the incident, which he blamed on a high county official.
“I lead a political party and when I come people want me to talk.”
“It’s stupidity to deny me an opportunity to speak to people,” he went on to say.
