Narck Kenya Leader Martha Karua has spoken out against former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s reported endorsement of Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka for President in 2027 rather than her after being his running partner in 2022.
Karua remarked yesterday that Raila’s sponsorship of Kalonzo’s presidential ambition is a non-issue that bothers her.
She emphasized Raila’s decision and democratic freedom to support whatever leader he chooses.
Karua was replying to a question about Raila’s recent backing of Kalonzo’s 2027 presidential bid, which the senior Opposition leader has now refuted.
“He wrote a clarification statement, but even if he had endorsed [him], it would have been his right.” “An endorsement in no way diminishes the chances of any other person who may wish to enter the race,” Karua explained.
There have been indications of a schism in the Azimio alliance between the Karua and Raila groups, with assertions that the former Gichugu MP is dissatisfied with the current bipartisan negotiations.
Initially, Kioni was not part of the team, with Central Kenya politicians aligned with the alliance expressing disappointment.
Later, he was appointed to lead the technical team assisting the Azimio team led by Kalonzo Musyoka.
