Mediheal Hospital in Eldoret has closed its doors due to an adverse commercial environment in the country, in what might be described as a significant blow to the country’s medical growth.
The hospital, which provided modern medical services to residents, closed its doors due to the exorbitant expense of maintaining the facility as well as excessive taxes imposed by President William Ruto’s regime.
According to sources, the hospital that housed a specialized cancer unit was shuttered when the owners were unable to pay rent due to high running costs.
Swarup Mishra, a former Kesses Member of Parliament who backed Azimio One Kenya Alliance presidential candidate Raila Odinga, owns the facility.
The hospital closure is a major setback for President William Ruto, who has been seeking to entice investors to the country despite high living costs and a weakening shilling.
