Undercover cops tasked with combating crime in Nairobi’s Eastlands district apprehended a prominent robber who is believed to be part of a gang that impersonates police officers and engages in criminal activity.
According to feared undercover detective Hessy Wa Dandora, the gang targets victims who have withdrawn large sums of money from financial institutions such as banks, mpesa stores, and saccos.
They halt the victims while impersonating police officers and block the road with private automobiles with forged license plates before stealing them.
They allegedly stopped a female motorist on Kasarani-Mwiki and robbed her.
Following intelligence tips, undercover cops cornered the suspected robbers along Kangundo Road.
One of the assailants was apprehended, but his comrades escaped.
