Moses Kuria, the cabinet secretary for public services, is jubilant that the Senate prevented the impeachment of Meru County Governor Kawira Mwangaza.

Kuria had even gone so far as to meet with the principals of Azimio One Kenya in an attempt to save Mwangaza, as he was defending the governor against impeachment.

In an effort to rally support for the governor, Kuria met with opposition leaders Kalonzo Musyoka and Raila Odinga on November 3.

Raila and Kalonzo decided to organize senators from all sides to reject the impeachment resolution during their meeting in Mombasa.

Following the meeting, Kuria boasted on social media that 35 senators opposed Kawira Mwangaza’s impeachment motion, meaning that she would not be removed from office.

You can take Kawira Mwangaza to the bank; she is not going anywhere. Kuria stated, “That motion will be shot down by more than 35 senators.”
