Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s bodyguard was, on the evening of Sunday, July 5, attacked and robbed his firearm by suspected robbers in Nairobi. Sergeant Jeol Kieti Kilonzo from Industrial Area Remand Prison had just dropped Kalonzo at his Karen home and he decided to stop by Karen Country Club where he had some refreshments before leaving the joint at 8pm.

The bodyguard had just dropped Kalonzo at his Karen home and went to Karen Country club for a short while.

According to a police statement, the officer who was attacked on his way to the stage after leaving the club, was beaten and his firearm, among other valuables, was stolen from him. “After he dropped the Wiper leader, the senior police officer decided to take supper at Karen country club before proceeding to his home,” police said in a statement.

The sergeant’s efforts to defend himself was futile as the four gang men were armed with a pistol and an AK 47 rifle. “As he reached for his pistol he was hit on the head and he fell down and the gang managed to subdue him by tying his hands from behind and bundled him into a Prado where they robbed him off his pistol,” police added. The culprits further confiscated his mobile phone and KSh 4,000.

Kilonzi was later dumped along Mombasa road at Shell Petrol Station near Hilton Gardens Hotel. Confirming the incidence, Karen Officer Commanding Station said they had launched an investigation into the matter to recover the firearm and bring the culprits to book.
