Kenya records highest number coronavirus recoveries in a day as positive cases rise to 672

The total number of coronavirus cases in Kenya has risen to 672 after 23 people tested positive between Saturday and Sunday.

22 of the cases are Kenyans while one is a Burundian national.

20 of the cases were picked out by the disease surveillance team while 3 are from designated quarantine facilities.

Speaking from Afya House on Sunday, Health CAS Dr. Rashid Aman said the new cases are from 1056 samples tested out across the country and are spread out as follows; Mandera-6, Nairobi-4 and Kajiado-1 and Mombasa-12.

In Nairobi, the 4 cases were recorded in the following estates; Umoja-2, Komarock-1 and Pipeline-1.

In Mombasa, the 12 cases were recorded in the following localities; Kisauni -2, Likoni-2 and Mvita-8.

In Mandera the cases are distributed out as follows: Mandera East-3, El Wak-1, Mandera North- 1 and Mandera West-1.

In Kajiado, the one is case is from Saina Estate.

The new cases range between 19 years to 80 years and consist 13 males and 10 females.

Kenya has also lost two more patients to the coronavirus in Mombasa, bringing the total number of fatalities to 32.

At the same time, the country has recorded the highest number of recoveries with 32 people being discharged from various facilities.

The total number of recoveries in the country is 239.
