National Super League side, Kisumu All-stars, will not honour their fixture against Fortune Sacco at Kianyaga Stadium in Kirinyaga on Sunday.
In a terse message appearing on their social media platform on Saturday, club chief executive officer Nicholas Ochieng said the decision has been occasioned by a persistent financial crisis bedevilling the club.
All-stars are featuring in the country’s second tier for the second straight season following their relegation from the Kenyan Premier League in 2019, after they were knocked out by Vihiga United in the promotion/relegation playoffs.
“Apologies to our fans. Due to financial constraints we are unable to honour our tomorrow’s fixture in Kirinyaga. But we hope to bounce back soon,” wrote Ochieng.
In another development, the match between Coast Heroes and SS Assad earlier scheduled for Sunday at Mbaraki Sports Club, has now been brought forward to Saturday.
