A businessman who successfully obtained orders against the government on mandatory vaccines has accused malls and supermarkets of disobeying court orders.

His sentiments stem from the fact that on December 14, 2021, Justice Anthony Mrima issued a conservatory order restraining the government from enforcing a directive requiring every Kenyan to be vaccinated before December 21, 2021.

Joseph Aura also accused Health CS Mutahi Kagwe and Dr Mercy Mwangangi of disregarding the court order by asking business establishments and public offices to ask for proof of vaccination. Through lawyer Harrison Kinyanjui, Aura singled out The Hub in Karen and the Junction Mall for continuing to ask for COVID-19 vaccination certificates despite a court invalidating the directive.

He added that he was apprehensive of the goings-on and asked the CS to respect the orders lest he saddles the court with a Contempt application.

Kinyanjui also told Justice Mrima that he will soon sue business enterprises that are continuing to ask for proof of vaccination before allowing entry with Contempt of Court charges.
