Mother scared of abusive son

Selly Rotich, a distressed mother caused a stir in Eldoret court after she pleaded with the judge to jail her son until the day she will die.

During the court session, Rotich tearfully narrated to Eldoret Senior Resident Magistrate Christine Menya how her son Nelson Kiptoo Limo has been terrorising his family and their neighbours. Kiptoo, had been charged with threatening to kill her with a panga.

She explained that the 33-year-old has repeatedly been beating her and his 60-year-old father forcing him to flee to Mombasa when the assaults persisted. Further in her plea, the lady told the court that their son had not changed despite serving a two-year jail sentence for assaulting them. Consequently, Rotich implored the court to lock Kiptoo until their deaths so that they can at least live in peace.

“I beg this court not to release this boy, my life is in danger due to frequent threats and attacks from the accused. I desire the accused to remain in jail until our deaths for us to enjoy peace. If he is released before our deaths, he is going to kill us,” said Rotich

However, the accused denied the charges and his mother’s claim. The case will be mentioned again on May 23.
