Police officers in Nairobi county are investigating an incident where a police officer shot dead another middle-aged man in a suspected love triangle.
The officer, Titus Kipchirchir Kirui, is said to have shot Charles Karugu Kikuyu, aged around 32 years after an argument with another unknown man over a woman. According to a police statement seen by TUKO.co.ke, Embakasi police officers who visited the scene found Kikuyu lying in a butchery bleeding profusely.
He was rushed to the Mama Lucy Hospital, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead on arrival. Kikuyu’s body was moved to the City Mortuary awaiting autopsy. Kirui was later arrested and put in custody as a probe into the incident continues. At the scene, the officers recovered one spent cartridge, which will be used as an exhibit. There was no fracas nor any sort of argument that was witnessed between police constable Paul Kuria and his two other colleagues when he randomly shot on Tuesday, March 9. The incident which happened at Chepchoina General Service Unit (GSU) camp also saw other officers suffer various injuries.
According to police, Kuria then shot himself through the lower jaw exiting through the forehead and died instantly.
