Newcastle United will hope to spoil the party when Cristiano Ronaldo makes his second debut for Manchester United against the Magpies at Old Trafford this afternoon at 1700hrs

Jamal Lewis has urged his Newcastle United team-mates to do ‘as much as they can to spoil’ Cristiano Ronaldo’s second debut for Manchester United.

Ronaldo will make his much-hyped return to Old Trafford against Newcastle on Saturday as the five-time Ballon d’Or winner faces the Magpies for the first time since 2009.

The eyes of the world will be on Manchester this weekend even if, ironically, the game won’t be televised live here in the UK.

Newcastle, who have won just one game at the Theatre of Dreams since 1972, go into the clash as huge underdogs but Steve Bruce has called on his side to ‘upset the applecart’ while Allan Saint-Maximin stressed the Magpies can win ‘if every player gives the best they can give’.

Although can get odds of 17/1 with some bookmakers on the visitors triumphing at the weekend, Lewis is hoping his side can spring a surprise.

“Listen, we all know as a team, as a collective, it’s going to be the Manchester show,” he told United View.

“It’s going to be the Ronaldo show if he comes on the pitch or whatever. There’s just going to be a general amazing buzz around Manchester this weekend. We know this. It’s inevitable.

“We’ve got to do as much as we can to spoil it. First and foremost, we’ve got to put a great shift in for our away travelling fans and get a result and spoil the game and really put our imprint on it.

“It’s going to be a great atmosphere. Me, personally, I love feeding off any atmosphere there is. Even if it’s just away fans, I enjoy having fans in the stadium.

“I think it brings the game, the realness of football, back. I love feeding off it. It gives me an extra 10, 20 per cent so I’m looking forward to seeing Old Trafford full.”
