ODM Apologises To Maragua MP Wamaua After She Was Barred From Attending Azimio La Umoja Forum

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), through its National Chairman John Mbadi, has apologised to Maragua MP Mary Wamaua over her ejection from the Azimio la Umoja convention on Friday.  

According to the MP, who is a vocal supporter of Deputy President William Ruto, security manhandled and barred her from accessing the area set aside for delegates at the event .

The Raila Odinga-led party has since expressed regret over the incident, which it labelled as isolated, and reassured Kenyans that it will not transpire again.

“On behalf of the ODM Party. 1 take this opportunity to publicly apologise to Hon Wamaua, for the indiscend handling and pray that she. together with the good people of Maragua will accept our apology,” Mbadi said in a statement.

“Although. it was not majorly an ODM affair we regret the ugly incident and commit to ensure such incidents do not happen again.”

The party similarly stated that it was a strong endorser of gender equality and the empowerment of women as such it will continue to uphold the dignity of women at all times.
