Parliamentary candidate arrested for carrying clubs and machetes


A parliamentary candidate for Ikolomani Constituency was earlier today arrested in Kakamega County alongside 9 other locals who were who were armed with crude weapons.

The candidate, Mr. Butichi Khamisi, was taken to Kakamega police station at 2am for questioning; according to Police Commander, Benjamin Wambua, the said suspects will be charged with attempting to commit a felony.

Mr. Wambua elucidated that he is glad they captured them at a good time because a slight delay would have disrupted the election process in the locality.

The voting process commenced as early as 4am in the county with long queues forming at the station. The presiding officer, Ms. Virginia Imbenzi, said the voting process was progressing smoothly and there were no challenges with the issued kits.
