Deputy President William Ruto has today left the country for a 10-day official tour of the United States of America.
During his tour, Ruto, who will be accompanied by Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi, will address delegates and also meet Kenyans living in the US.
The DP‘s visit has sparked reactions online with reports suggesting that his passport had been banned in the US.
However, reacting on social media, Kenyan scholar Prof. Makau Mutua, who is a fierce critic of DP Ruto, said the second in command’s visit to the US will not do anything in burnishing his name or his identity to the international community.
Makau stated that despite the numerous desperate moves by Ruto to cleanse his name with the visit, the officials he is meeting already know the kind of person he is
“The reported visit by DP @WilliamsRuto to the US and the UK will do nothing to burnish his image or his DISMAL international standing. Officials there who meet him KNOW his multiple corruption scandals and grave allegations against him at the International Criminal Court,” Makau stated.
