Nyayo National Stadium was packed to the brim by 8am on Tuesday as Kenyans eagerly awaited for the memorial service in honour of the late Daniel arap Moi.
Below is the official program for the event that will also see seven visiting Heads of State and tens of dignitaries in attendance:
8.00 a.m: Members of the public required to be seated at the Nyayo Stadium
8.00 a.m.- 10-15a.m: Select choirs perform before the gathering
8.30a.m: President Moi’s cortège leaves Parliament for State House
9:30am: Cortège leaves State House for Nyayo Stadium on gun carriage
10:00 – 10:20 a.m. Arrival and sitting of State officials and guests
10.30a.m: Arrival of President Uhuru Kenyatta and the First Lady at Nyayo Stadium
10.35am: State reception of the cortège bearing the body of the late Daniel arap Moi
10.45a.m.- 12.00a.m: State Memorial service
12.00-2.00p.m: Tributes to the late Mzee Moi
2:15pm: The body of the late Moi leaves the stadium for Lee Funeral Home
The late President Moi will be interred at his Kabarak Home in Nakuru on Wednesday, February 12.
