12 Somali nationals have been arrested at the Garissa – Tana Bridge by police officers who realized that they had no valid identification documents.
The identification presented by the Somalis differed from the actual vehicle which meant that the Land Cruiser is using either a forged or stolen GK number plate.
With the help of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), detectives learnt that the vehicle is registered to the Garissa Ministry of Urban Development.
Investigations have officially been opened to find out the main agenda of the 12 and whether there are individuals sponsoring their activities.
Recently, security agencies have expressed concerns over the rising cases of human and drug trafficking in the country which has been connected to terror activities. There is need for the security officers to be more meticulous and keen when checking the Identification Cards and searching of vehicles at the road blocks.
