Two Alshabaab leaders designated as global terrorists


Two Alshabaab leaders have been designated as global terrorists by the United States. Ali Mohamed Rage is said to have been involved in planning attacks both in Kenya and Somalia while, Abdikadir Mohamed Abdikadir served as Head of Operations & Logistics.

According to the States Department, Ali Mohamed took over the spokesman role from Sheikh Mukhtar Robow, who is currently under the NISA house arrest.

Abdikadir, also known as Ikrima, is said to be a senior Alshabaab leader who has directed several attacks planned by the group.

The statement released, ordered all property belonging to these individuals to be blocked and reported to the Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control. The same goes for other individuals involved in any transactions with these two.

The two Al-Shabaab leaders are among five jihadist leaders in Africa designated by the US. The other three are Bonomade Machude Omar of ISIS-Mozambique, Sidan ag Hitta, and Salem ould Breihmatt of Mali
