War on corruption

Corruption is the abuse of entrusted power for private gain. It erodes trust, weakens democracy, hampers economic development and further exacerbates inequality, poverty, social division and the environmental crisis.

We have not won the war on corruption, it’s too early to state we are winning the war on graft but we have put in some measures to combat it. Institutions like DCI, EACC and ODPP have been working hand in hand with National Police Service to investigate corruption.

Kenyans need to choose wisely when it comes to leadership and integrity. We cannot keep giving the corrupt individuals mandate to run public offices cases. Cases involving politicians should be expedited to keep them out of the office and the ballot.

A matter being defended in court takes an average timeline of 10years. Institutions like DCI, EACC and ODPP should be provided with adequately resources because they are facing strong legal defense teams. If we put in place active case management, tools and protocols, cases may take even 6months in courts. Also dispersing corruption cases to every Magistrate in this country can help in shortening corruption cases in courts.
